Three Mile Brewing Co. started with five guys who just wanted to make really good, genuinely interesting beer for Davis and the surrounding community. What came out of that is a lineup of small-batch brews—about 3.5 barrels at a time—that shift with the seasons, local ingredients, and whatever ideas the brewing team feels like chasing.

That freedom shows up in the glass. Some beers are familiar favorites, others push into new territory, but all of them reflect a willingness to experiment and keep things fresh. Lately, that same mindset has expanded into craft ciders and wine blends, so there’s always something new to try.

At the end of the day, it’s about creating drinks people actually enjoy coming back for—and building a local following that values variety, creativity, and supporting something rooted in Davis.

The five founders pose together with their arms around each other in the outside courtyard. They are all wearing hats and smiling with two of them also holding beers.

Back in the early days, Davis (then Davisville) had no shortage of drinkers—nine saloons for a town of just 500 people. But starting in 1911, a push to “protect” students led to a ban on alcohol within a one-mile radius of campus, eventually stretched to three. That law stuck around until 1979, long after Prohibition had come and gone.

For decades, if you wanted a drink, you had to head beyond the three-mile line. We like to think that history makes what we do now a little more meaningful.

Three Mile Brewing is our nod to that past—and a celebration of how far things have come. These days, we’re proud to serve locally brewed beer, cider, and wine right here in Davis.
