The Great American Beer Festival awards gold, silver and bronze medals for excellence in 102 beer-style categories but does not necessarily award medals to the top three finishers in a particular category. When judges decide a category contains three excellent examples of the style, they award gold, silver and bronze medals for the first, second and third place beers, respectively.

The Brewers Cup of California is the largest craft beer competition in the state and one of the largest in the nation. The competition, organized by Sacramento Area Brewers Guild with support from the Bay Area, Central Coast, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego brewers guilds, recognizes the best craft beers in the state of California.

It’s all about the hop! This gold medal winning pale ale features Mosaic hops, providing an aromatic “mosaic” of berry, pine, grapefruit, herbal notes, and an earthy character that makes this an up and coming favorite of brewers everywhere. Its parent hop, Simcoe, provides the bittering for this hop infused pale ale experience.
A malt focused ale just as one would expect from an Scottish Export style beer but just a tad on the darker and more roasty side to be true to style. A blend of 6 malted barleys that includes crystal malt, roasted barley, and chocolate malt sets the tone and just enough hops to balance the malt sweetness.
